SMAD4 Regulates Cell Motility through Transcription of N-Cadherin in Human Pancreatic Ductal Epithelium
Expression of N-cadherin on the surface of epithelial cells facilitates motility and invasion, and scientists demonstrate that knockdown of SMAD4 causes decreased N-cadherin expression, which results in diminished migration and invasion of human pancreatic ductal epithelial cells. The mechanisms involved in the deterioration of beta cell function caused by autophagic failure have not yet been fully elucidated. Differential Modulation of Nicotine-Induced Gemcitabine Resistance by GABA Receptor Agonists in Pancreatic Cancer Cell Xenografts and In Vitro
In vitro exposure of cells to single doses or seven days of nicotine induced the protein expression of MMP-2, MMP-9 and EGR-1 and these responses were blocked by GABA.
